We're an international group of (mostly amateur) artists and we'll have our artists retreat in an isolated house in the mountains of Tuscany. Photographers, painters, writers, muses... open for all disciplines. June 1st till June 8. Close to Lucca. We'll be working by ourselves if we want but will be having some cooperation, crossovers and mutual inspiration as well. We'll be cooking and eating etc. together. As we simply share the costs, it is very affordable. There are still some places open, so please send me a message if you are interested! Web site for more info here.
In the early 20th century countless individuals from Valle San Giovanni (locally referred to as "Valle") left Italy in search of a brighter future for themselves and their families. Those left behind have never forgotten their fellow countrymen who decided through necessity or choice to leave Abruzzo. Over the years, many of these emigrants have had the opportunity to return and find members of their families who never left Italy, to visit places of their childhood, or just to see for the first time the location where their parents, grandparents and other relatives once lived. The nonprofit Discover Your Roots project was initiated to facilitate this reunification process and to honor the memory of Abruzzo's brave émigrés. During the first two weeks of July 2012 those who departed Valle San Giovanni for faraway lands, as well as their descendants and families, are encouraged to return to Abruzzo for a series of festivities and entertainment. To make this happen 20 newly restored private apartments in Valle are being made available for a nominal fee.For more information contact: email@example.com
F.E.S.T.A. Theatre Company, which recently presented to packed houses The Velveteen Rabbit at the Pergola Theatre in Florence, with a surprise appearance by renowned actor John Malkovich (January 2010) and Macbeth at the Bargello Museum (July 2009), is announcing auditions for Dracula at the BARGELLO MUSEUM in Florence, Italy, June and July 2010. We are currently seeking actors from around the world for this international production. You will have the opportunity to work with colleagues from the United States, Great Britain and other countries, as well as with local Italian artists, and to perform this classic in its native language. Sword and stage combat training will be a part of the rehearsal process with a world-renowned Fight Master and Choreographer. Monetary compensation is dependent on experience and need. Some housing and financial assistance may be available for actors not living in Florence. Rehearsals start around the 19th of May, 2010. The show will run the last week of June and the first two weeks of July (with the possibility of a tour afterwards). Dracula will be performed entirely in the English language (with subtitles in Italian for the audience) so a solid knowledge of English is absolutely necessary. FESTA is seeking trained and talented actors. Auditions will take place on Jan. 30 from 10:00 am - 1 pm in central Florence. Auditions will consist of performing a 1 to 2 minute classical monologue. Please come prepared. For an audition time, please write to Suzanne at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 347/9397010 347/9397010.
