Carole Gauthier, Ph.D.

Bilingual psychotherapist and licensed psychoanalyst working with individuals and couples, specializing in anxiety, depression, adjustments to life events, acculturation, self-esteem and relationship issues.

Psychological distress does not have to be a fatality. Therapy is about feeling supported, gaining clarity and bridging the gap between what you want and what you do in order to feel more alive and have more choice.

I borrow from Gestalt therapy, inter-subjective psychoanalysis and EMDR to help people feel less depressed or anxious, be more creative and self-confident, better manage their emotions, let go of the past, become more successful, improve their relationships and find purpose in their life.

I am Franco-American and my practice consists in adults of all ages, countries of origin, genders and sexual orientations. I have a special interest in cultural adjustments, identity and self-esteem issues, and, more broadly, the human existential search and struggle for meaning and connections.

I can help you go through difficult or defining times in your life such as, among others, expatriation, divorce, lay-off, retirement, bereavement, serious illness or adjusting to parenting or the “empty nest”. I believe that these situations are also the opportunity for tremendous personal growth.

Starting a therapy and finding “the right therapist” - the right person with the right mindset and the right approach to address your needs - can sometimes be challenging. I propose free phone consultations so as to answer any of your practical and theoretical questions, in order to assist you in your personal journey.
