Marymount International School, Paris
A private, Catholic school - the oldest international School in Paris - dedicated to educating children aged 2 to 14 years from all cultures, backgrounds, and religious beliefs, as we lay the intellectual and spiritual foundations for tomorrows leaders.
As a Catholic school embracing diversity and in the spirit of our Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM) Mission “that all may have life”, our school community is committed to the education of every student so that they may think creatively, reason critically, communicate effectively and learn continuously. Marymount International School, Paris is accredited through the Middle States Association and the Council of International Schools.
A living legacy of Commitment to whole child education.
The history of Marymount can be traced back to 1846 when Father Jean Gailhac founded an order of Sisters in Béziers in the south of France. The objective, considered a progressive idea at that time, was the education of young women. When Marymount College was opened in Tarrytown, New York in 1908, the founders new vision was to educate from an international perspective. Marymount International School, Paris opened on September 30, 1923 in the town of Neuilly-sur-Seine, just outside of Paris. Today, our students are privileged to share the home of four RSHM sisters – Sr. Martin, Sr. Brigid, Sr. Ethan and Sr. Marion – whose intellectual and spiritual experience provides students with an invaluable source of inspiration and well-being.
Educating Global Citizens
At Marymount, we pride ourselves on educating the ‘whole’ child’ - the carefully developed curriculum, breadth of activities available and teaching philosophy are orchestrated to cultivate all facets of the individual students. We believe that by providing our students with the opportunity to learn in an environment that values their own personal history and culture and that strives to instill a love of learning from the earliest age, is key to preparing today’s children
to be tomorrow’s leaders. Students and faculty approach the fulfilment of our school mission as an exciting, shared
endeavor. This special student – teacher relationship is the basis for all that happens here at Marymount International School, Paris. Students are encouraged to strive for personal excellence and they are cared for and loved, allowing for the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual growth of each one of them.
Preparation for the future
At Marymount, children are prepared – academically, socially, intellectually and spiritually – for a world that will look very different from the one we know today. A fundamental way we do this is through an academically rigorous program that supports the talents of all our students – from our Early Years Program through to the Eighth Grade. The core subjects (Math, Science, Social Studies, English and French) are complemented by an excellent co-curricular program including
Religion, Music, Art and Physical Education.
Early Years Program: 3 year program, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten
Elementary School: Grades 1 – 5
Middle School: Grades 6 - 8
Marymount is proud to offer an Middle School Elective Program that give students the opportunity both to deepen their personal interests and to expand their horizons further, whether their interests are linguistic, artistic, athletic or social.
Beyond the classroom, students participate in a wide range of after-school activities and benefit from the school’s excellent location by going on day trips to localplaces of interest. Ties with the French community are strong and students participate in season-long sports events with teams from other schools in the area.
World-class learning support for every childs needs
Through our Learning Support Services, we offer a dedicated Resource Center program for students who require additional academic support. Our English as an Additional Language program supports those whose mother tongue is
not English. Non-native English speakers and multi-lingual speakers contribute to the rich diversity of our community’s culture. These children are constantly encouraged to take pride in their own language. Our unique Individualized Learning Center (ILC) provides an individualized education program for children with learning difficulties whose needs cannot be met within the regular classroom. Dedicated and highly trained staff provide a safe, secure and adapted learning experience for these students, whilst ensuring that they continue to benefit from every aspect of
community life and learning at Marymount.
A supportine home away from home
As many of our families are expats and thus, often moving and far from home, we recognize that Marymount is often much more than a school to the families of our students. Providing support and helping with integration into the community is something we take seriously. Key members of staff and the School Office provide parents with valuable information about life in France and connect them to groups and actors in the international community that provide
specific support, guidance and advice. We strive to include our parents in daily life through providing opportunities to volunteer or participate regularly in events, outings and networking opportunities. Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) provides ample opportunity to network and find support for parents settling into their new life in Paris. Parents are active on campus and communication with teachers and administrators is encouraged.
Spring and summer camps
Marymount International School Paris offers several different childrens Language, Sports and Arts Camps each year. Camps take place on campus and are managed by and benefit from all the facilities of the school. Every day, children – both students and non-students – explore activities in English and with an international, dynamic approach to discovery and learning.
