Anyone got a fool-proof recipe for apple strudel? I don't want to get a soggy bottom!
Can't help with a recipe but can reccomend the one that they sell in Aldi! Just make sure that it backed on a rack and that it cooks underneath too. And then serve with vanilla ice cream. Yum.
Providing you are thoroughly buttering your strudel leaves with melted butter then this should waterproof the base and prevent soggy bottoms; Some pastry cooks suggest a thin sprinkle of semolina along the base before setting the apple on top; this helps absorb the cooking juices.
