Hello - I am moving to south of France for 6 months with 2 kids (10 and 12) early 2019. I am struggling to know if I can get them into bilingual school (they are french speakers but not bilingual as such - can't write it or really read it). I think IBS or SIVS are options but I can't figure out 1) whether I will definitely get them in and 2) how we find where to live for that length of time. Any help very gratefully received! Thank you.

Hi - I am looking for a preschool or daycare for my son this summer while we are studying in Aix. I'd prefer that he go to a school (rather than a nanny) so that he is immersed in French - he'll be starting a French preschool in the US in the fall. I don't understand how they work - are they all governement operated? Are there any private daycares? Or
Hi. We are moving to Aix in July/August this year from London. I am half English/German and my husband is from Aix. We are looking to put the children into the CIPEC school and wanted to know any insights into the school or other international schools. We are also looking to buy a property to move into by July/August which is wheelchair friendly so any help with that would be amazing. In fact any help on anything to do with moving to Aix from another country would be hugely appreciated. Very best wishes Kristina
Well, this is maybe a provocative title, but I have retired early, have young (7 and 10) boys and my widfe and I are both bilingual. What could be more enticing than come to France, buy a beautiful mas with our valuable £s and potter? Except, except, if we stay in the UK we can pick a location where the kids can attend a grammar school or even a private school, where the standards are totally transparent, the teachers are first rate, the entire experience is visible, reviewed, and reassuring. So what do we do? The little information we have gleaned is from the Palmares des Lycees, and school websites. And friends, estate agents, online forums. We were thinking that we would be doing the right thing by the kids sending them to primary (total immersion) then college and lycee in Aix. Not in any cheaper location, not in the beautiful Luberon or Vaucluse - not, indeed anywhere where the schools would be a problem. So, it's Duby in Luynes. All set to buy with access to Luynes in mind. And then we see that there is intense anxiety among arents about the colleges leading up to Duby, and that Duby itself is in the n=bottom quarter of French lycees in the famous Palmares. If anybody has stayed with this (I've never tried this before!), then thanks! Put bluntly, if we want our kids to have a good, happy education that gives them the same chances we had (Ivy League / Oxbridge), what do we do? My own experience of French schools was from educational publishing. I have seen inside dozens. No offence, but they tend to look like prisons, have no club / society life, have defeated disillusioned teachers who are profoundly untrained in pedagogy, and run the pupils on the basis of marks and tests. Can anyone direct us to a college / lycee 'parcours' in or around Aix in which they have faith and which they can happily recommend?
