Find out how to get around Qatar using the bus network...
The bus network in Doha and across Qatar is run by the government-owned Mowasalat organisation. There are numerous routes operating throughout the capital, and many services connect Doha with other parts of the country.

To travel on a bus, passengers must buy a Karwa Smartcard, which replaced cash fares in early 2011. The cards cost QR 30, with QR 20 of this fee available as credit, and the remaining QR 10 held until a cumulative total of QR 300 has been used on the card. The cards can be bought at the main Al Ghanim bus station, which is located at Grand Hamad Street, and sales are also set to be rolled out to other venues across the capital.

The cards are swiped upon boarding and disembarking, and the appropriate fee for the distance travelled is debited. Fares within Doha are usually QR 3 or QR 4, and inter-city journeys range from QR 4 to QR 9. The card’s credit can be topped up at the outlets where they are sold. For those who wish to travel but do not have a card, a ‘no card fee’ of QR 10 can be paid in cash for the journey.
Bus times and information
In Doha, services run from early morning to midnight. The bus fleet is modern and air-conditioned, with areas at the front reserved for women and children. Buses can be caught from dedicated stops in the city, or can be flagged down on major inter-city highways.
There is an information centre for the bus service at Al Ghanim bus station.
