Hi two questions on pregnancy: 1. Are there any antenatal classes in the Monaco area (Menton to Nice), preferably in English? 2. Does anyone have experience of French doctors here who have a more enlightened view regarding intervention i.e. those who see birth as a healthy, normal phase of life, rather than a surgical procedure to be carried out on a patient? Help much appreciated

Good morning I am desperately trying to find childcare in Nice for my 8 month old son. Does anyone know of any creches I can apply to, even if it means I am on the waiting list for a while? I am on the waiting list for the creche familial already but I cannot seem to find out if there are any other creches. Do you know of any in Central Nice? Thanks a million

Just wondered if anyone has had to do this? We have a high terrace with balastrading, with spaces definitely bit enough for a small toddler to get through. Looking for some practical ideas as to how to make this safe - I've thought of netting etc but it seems a bit tricky to fix it onto the stone work. Alot of other solutions would make it easy to climb on and over.Any ideas or advice would be greatly received. My son has yet to pay any attention to the fact that he could probably get through but I am more worried about any other little children that might visit us.Thanks in advance,Daisy

I am spending the summer in Valbonne between weeks 30 - 37 of my 3rd pregnancy. I would like to find a doctor to visit a few times for routine checks - blood pressure etc but also for my 36 week growth scan. Also really so I have a back up plan just in case this baby doesn't follow suit being late but decides to put in an early appearance!! Any recommendations would be most appreciated.

Hi, I am looking for information about the international schools here in the region which could cater for two children aged 10 and 15. I would like to know which schools would be an option (Mougins, nice, Monaco?), is there a waiting list for any of these, and also do they offer a US curriculum aswell? Thanks for any help you can provide me with

Right. Here goes nothing once again. My son is 8 1/2 and has always walked on his toes, despite frequent reminders not to. He has been referred for insoles for a few years now, but they do not seem to be making a difference, despite having tried different podiatrists and different types of insoles. He is not growing out of it and I don't believe he will. I am most concerned about he damage he is doing to his leg muscles and his skeleton. He used to have a lot of knee pain, but the insoles have helped that at least. I need to get this checked out more seriously by a specialist because our generalist has said we need to watch him for spine curvature over the next couple of years. Where do I go, who do I turn to for help with this? Does anyone know what type of specialist I should even be looking for? I have looked on the internet and found different possible causes (some including some other characteristics he possesses) but I'm not sure they take any of these seriously here. They seem to only look for physical, medical reasons (which it may of course be). I just need my concerns to be taken seriously. I am not being an overly worried parent, I just know when something is not right.

HelloWe are planning to move to France along with our 7 year old who is currently in year 3 in the UK. It looks like the two best schools are the International School in Nice and the other one in Mougins.I plan to live somewhere close to Sophia Antipolis so that commuting takes lesser time. Mougins seems to be a better choice. But how do the two schools compare in terms of reputation? Also, are there any other International schools (English as primary language)?RegardsMarc

Does anyone know of a bracelet or anklet that can be worn by a toddler and activates an alarm if they fall into a pool? We do have a pool alarm but I wondered if anything existed that was strapped to the arm/ankle and set of an alarm that parents can carry around when it gets wet? Any ideas?

Hi, On our recent flight down here our babies push chair got damaged. The airline have told us to first to take for repair (and get compensation) , if it cant be fixed they need a letter from the repair shop(!!!)(get full compensation. The frame work is completely bent so I doubt it can be fixed, but I need to follow the procedure and try to get a refund. It was 400 Euros and only been used 8 months so I will feel awful if nothing is done. Does anyone have suggestions what sort of shop I can take the push chair to? We live in Antibes. ThanksSW
