Carolina Luchetta Psychologist

Licensed psychologist and psychoanalyst for individual, couple, family therapy in English and Portuguese. Experienced working with foreigners/expats living in Brazil. Fluent in English with Certificate of Proficiency from The University of Cambridge.

Licensed Psychologist, Psychoanalyst, Teacher and Translator. Graduated in Psychology Universidade São Marcos in 2004, where she started her studies on psychoanalysis. From the very beginning of her undergraduate course, she took up several elective courses on the Psychoanalytic Theory, was a member of the Centro de Psicanálise da Universidade São Marcos,  a pupil of professor Daniel Delouya and an intern in the psychoanalysis centre of Universidade  Sao Marcos. Carolina carried on studying psychoanalysis, Freud, Lacan and their followers. She did her postgraduate course in Clinical Psychology at CEP (Centro de Estudos Psicanalíticos), where she became a psychoanalyst and obtained her specialist title of Clinical Psychologist by CRP (Conselho Regional de Psicologia) in 2007. Carolina has also been a member psychoanalyst at CEP and  she belonged to a group in charge of interviewing and referring all new analysands to their local therapists.

 

Worked in a prestigious endocrinology office as a psychologist with obese patients undergoing psychological evaluation for the bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery) and also in a spa in the countryside of São Paulo.

 

Worked at Instituto do Câncer do Estado de São Paulo (ICESP) as a psychologist, helping patients fighting cancer and their family deal with the diagnosis, treatment and surgery.

 

Was a volunteer psychologist at Instituto de Psiquiatria do Hospital das Clínicas (IPQ/HCFMUSP) in the childhood socialization clinic (Ambulatório de socialização infantil), helping children and teenagers with Conduct Disorder (CD) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD).

 

Has been working in her private practice in São Paulo as a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst since 2005 with an intense flow of patients undergoing psychotherapy. Most of her patients are adults and teenagers, with all kinds of needs and personalities. She also has English-speaking foreign patients consulting with her in their mother tongue. A few patients, whose mother tongue is not English, prefer having sessions in English because they feel more comfortable speaking  English than Portuguese. As Carolina has lived in London/UK for a year and has worked as a teacher of English for many years, not only is she fluent in English but also holds the Certificate of Proficiency in English awarded by the University of Cambridge.
