Korea International School (KIS) Pangyo Campus / Seoul Campus
Korea International School (KIS) is a private, proprietary, non-profit, nonsectarian school established in 2000 in the Gangnam neighborhood of southern Seoul. In 2006, KIS expanded to a modern, state-of-the-art facility in the rapidly-growing southern Seoul suburb of Pangyo. The stated mission of KIS is to “inspire students with a passion for learning and to cultivate the competence, self-assurance, initiative, and creativity necessary for success in the global community.” KIS also offers summer programs that emphasize experiential learning. Students and families from more than 20 countries make KIS their home.

KIS offers a comprehensive, college-preparatory curriculum accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges). 24 classes are currently available in the AP program and diverse electives such as Web Design, Robotics, 2D & 3D Arts, Video Production, Theater, Psychology, and Creative Writing are also available. Our state-of-the-art facilities offer ample opportunities for students to explore in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) subjects from Elementary to High School. The elementary curriculum (PK-5) helps children develop the skills and attitudes they will need for a lifetime of learning. In addition to academics, the curriculum emphasizes the arts, student activities, and athletics to enable students to acquire problem solving, decision making, and critical thinking skills. All instruction at the elementary level utilizes play as an essential part of the learning process.
ATHLETICS AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
KIS’s wide range of co-curricular opportunities provides students with a rich experience outside of the classroom. Strong participation is a hallmark of KIS students. Student athletes participate in the following competitive varsity sports in the Korean American Interscholastic Activity Conference (KAIAC): volleyball, cross country, tennis, soccer, basketball, swimming, and cheerleading. In 2010, KIS’s varsity sports began competing in the Asian International Schools Association (AISA).
A variety of clubs provide opportunities for KIS Elementary, Middle, and High School students to extend the classroom experience. A sampling of clubs offered includes: Habitat for Humanity, Model United Nations, Jazz Band, Camping Club, and National Honor Society.
COLLEGE PLACEMENT AND STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
KIS graduates gain acceptance to top universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton, Yale, UC Berkeley and other excellent private and public universities.

KIS Seoul offers a stimulating, holistic, program where academics, the arts, student-centered activities, and physical play are emphasized. Education at KIS Seoul is a shared experience between the students, teachers, parents, and administrators; each playing a separate yet integral role in the educational well-being and development of each child. Learning begins in the home and KIS Seoul successfully builds on this prior knowledge and nurtures the young learner – developing the skills, attitudes, and concepts necessary for academic and personal success. Students continue on and flourish in our rigorous Middle and High School at Pangyo Campus. Our goal is to create lifelong learners who are creative individuals, critical thinkers and compassionate global citizens that will thrive in the technology-rich 21st century.
