Dr Grace McClurg, DPsych, MSc, MSc, BSc (Hons), CPsychol
I am a fully qualified, UK trained Psychologist with over twenty-five years experience in clinical practice. I can offer Skype therapy sessions and evening appointments.
Whilst in the UK, I worked in the NHS, Forensic Services and social services and was employed for many years by the London Courts to provide psychological assessments and act as an expert witness. I have been employed as an assistant professor in a number of universities (including the National University of Singapore) and have been responsible for the training and clinical supervision of other psychologists. For many years I ran a private practice in central London and from 2006 to 2015 I ran a thriving private practice in Singapore. I am now back in the UK, but the vast majority of my work is done via Skype with clients residing in other countries.
I adhere firmly to the Code of Professional and Ethical conduct stipulated by the British Psychological society and my practice is grounded in evidence based practice. It has been found that a core condition for successful therapy is a positive relationship between the therapist and client; trust and safety are absolutely paramount. I place a great deal of emphasis on creating this form of therapeutic alliance. Although research has shown that specific treatment approaches are beneficial for certain psychological issues, the individuality of each client is vital. As such, each treatment plan is unique and based on the client’s issues, formulation, dynamics and their hopes and expectations from therapy.
I work with adults experiencing a range of psychological issues such as;
- Post natal depression
- Adjustment disorder
- Eating disorders
- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Obsessive compulsive disorder
- Interpersonal difficulties
- Relationship and family difficulties
- Past traumas including sexual and physical abuse
- Difficulties within the family of origin
- Anger management
