Dr Grace McClurg
I am fully qualified and chartered by the British Psychological Society in two separate branches of Psychology and have over twenty-five years clinical experience. For many years I worked in the UK health service and subsequently ran a private therapy practice in London. I had responsibility for the training and supervision of other Psychologists and was employed by the London Courts as an expert witness. From 2006 to 2015 I ran a thriving private practice in Singapore. Because of the limited number of properly qualified and experienced Psychologists in Asia, my practice continued via on line sessions after I’d left the country. I now live in the UK, but work with clients from all over the world using Skype or Zoom.
I adhere firmly to the Code of Professional and Ethical conduct stipulated by the British Psychological society and my practice is grounded in evidence based practice. Research shows that a core condition for successful therapy is a positive relationship between the therapist and client; trust and safety are absolutely paramount. I place a great deal of emphasis on creating this form of therapeutic alliance. Although specific treatment approaches are beneficial for certain psychological issues, the individuality of each client is vital. Consequently each treatment plan is unique and based on the client’s issues and their hopes and expectations from therapy.
I work with adults experiencing a range of psychological issues:
- Adjustment disorder
- Eating disorders
- Interpersonal difficulties
- Relationship and family difficulties
- Past traumas including sexual and physical abuse
- Anger management
