About the Educational Consultant:
M.Ed, BA(Hons), PGCE
Cathy Clark is a qualified and experienced British teacher and has been teaching in Singapore since the 1980s.
For over a decade, she has successfully provided individualised cross-curricular support to international primary and secondary school students, in all subjects up to (I)GCSE, and in selected subjects to ‘A’ Level.
Through her highly empathetic and focused approach, Cathy helps children and adolescents who are referred for a variety of reasons. Learning differences, transition, or difficulties associated with health or socio-emotional issues, may all delay academic progress.
Cathy was originally a senior school English specialist, but later joined the Learning Support department at Tanglin Trust (Junior) School. Through her work with the school’s educational psychologist, and her close liaison with the parents of her students, she came to realise the value of individualised learning for many children in Singapore’s ever increasing academically rigorous international schools.
Whilst working at Tanglin Trust she obtained her Master’s degree in Special & Inclusive Education (2002). Furthermore, she also has a BA (Hons) in English, and a PGCE qualifying her to teach both English and Mathematics at secondary level.
Cross-curricular support for upper primary and secondary school students
This service targets organisational and study skills which aid overall academic progress. Students are helped with their comprehension of content taught at school, as well as being supported through their revision for tests and examinations.
The focus is on the specific student’s overall academic and personal profile, and current priorities such as an imminent examination, are addressed immediately.
Homeschooling for students temporarily not attending school
Students may be out of school for medical or psychological reasons – or they may be awaiting a place at their chosen school. We utilise the appropriate curriculum, and liaise with the school where appropriate, to ensure the child maintains progress.
This is a subject-focused service as follows:
English Literature up to A Level
English Language and Literature up to (I)GCSE
Maths up to (I)GCSE
English and Maths for upper primary school students
