Confinement rules in France - what this means for us in South Aquitaine

See the below link for the mandatory certificate that you need to carry for ALL your trips; even for pedestrians. As of noon today (Tuesday, March 2020) 

Take care of yourself and others and Stay at Home 


Travel is prohibited for 15 days from Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at noon, except in the following cases and only provided that you have a certificate for:

  • Going from home to work and back; when tele-commuting isn't possible.
  • Making essential purchases in authorised local shops and pharmacies.
  • Going to see a health professional.
  • Traveling to take care of your children or to help vulnerable people on the strict condition of respecting barrier gestures.
  • Exercise (alone) near your home; Walking your dog.


Violations of these rules will be punished with a fine of € 38, which may be increased to € 135.
