International Education in Leiden Area
In a quiet green suburb of Leiden, the International School ‘Het Rijnlands Lyceum’ Oegstgeest offers top-quality secondary education in a unique setting. The school serves the greater Leiden area, and is easily accessible from Amsterdam, Wassenaar, The Hague and most other locations in Holland.
Our IB World school is unique in the sense that it is a school within a school. The Het Rijnlands Lyceum Oegstgeest was established in 1955 and is a Dutch high school, offering the upper age range of the national secondary education programmes. It offers both a Dutch and a Bilingual (English/Dutch) national education.
Within that school is our IB World School, an International School which offers students aged 11 to 15, the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, followed by the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for students aged 16-18. Classroom instruction is in English.
Although the educational programmes of the International School are independent from those of the Dutch School, a conscious decision has been made to have an international school and a national school operating in the same building, creating a very unique mixing of cultures. Students and teachers share the same facilities. Integration with the Dutch and Bilingual department is encouraged whenever possible, be it in the form of theatre productions, sports activities and major projects.
