National Windmill Day

from Sat 13th May to Sun 14th May

National Windmill Day (Nationale Molendag) in Holland is an annual event which showcases Dutch windmills and the importantant role these iconic structures have played throughout the Netherlands history. The goal of the event is to build a better understanding not just of how the windmills work, but of the ongoing maintenance required to ensure they will be around in the future.

Most windmills, including some not normally accessible to the public, can be visited on National Windmill Day with special activities offered at many of the windmills.

More historic windmills are located in South Holland than any other province, nearly 20%.
