What is considered the best ski resort in Alsace. Want to visit this winter and hit the slopes in France.
Most of the French I know head for the Vosges resorts. There's info on some of the resorts on AngloINFO - http://strasbourg.angloinfo.com/af/445/strasbourg-winter-sports-skate-ski-and-snowboard.html
For a quiet resort, with adequate snow for beginners/intermediate and lots of cross country, try Lac Blanc http://www.lac-blanc.com/
for a more commercial area try La Bresse-Hohneck http://labresse.labellemontagne.com/en/winter-2/ski-area/
Thank you both so much for your replies!! I shall consult with the other party members and we'll look at both of these suggestions.
Gerardmer is good - and as none of the resorts are that big (we can 'do' Gerardmer in a day, ditto La Bresse and Lac Blanc), I suspect you will want to visit more than one resort during your stay. And for your other post about transfers, I would really recommend getting a hire car rather than relying on public transport - it is all quite spread out - it is good to have the option to move around a bit!
Thanks for taking the time to reply Fi. I really, really appreciate it. I'm really looking forward to coming over to Europe now. Vancouver is cool (literally, in the winter), but the thought of Europe gets me so excited!
