A new campaign group has recently formed in the UK called WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality Campaign) to "seek fair transitional arrangements for all women born on or after 6th April 1951 who have unfairly borne the burden of the increase to the State Pension Age (SPA). Hundreds of thousands of women have had significant changes imposed on them with a lack of appropriate notification. The 1995 Conservative Government’s Pension Act included plans to increase women’s SPA to 65, the same as men’s. Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI), agree with equalisation, but don’t agree with the unfair way the changes were implemented – with little/no personal notice (1995/2011 Pension Acts), faster than promised (2011 Pension Act), and no time to make alternative plans. Retirement plans have been shattered with devastating consequences." A crowdfunding exercise raised enough to pay for legal advice and barristers are currently considering potential action. A petition has been signed by more than 21,000 people since the 20th October. Yesterday it was announced that the Parliamentary Select Committee for Work and Pensions will be seeking submissions from women born in the 50's. "The Work and Pensions Committee have launched an inquiry into the new State Pension introduced in April 2016. Concerns have been raised that many of those who will be affected by the changes do not know enough about the changes or exactly what they will mean for their pensions." More details here http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/work-and-pensions-committee/news-parliament-2015/state-pension-launch-15-16/ I am sure that there are many of you (like me) who are affected by these changes. You may want to consider signing the petition and asking your family and friends to do the same herehttps://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/110776 You can find more information about the campaign and read some of the heartbreaking stories about women who have been left without the money they are entitled to herehttps://www.facebook.com/WASPI-Women-Against-State-Pension-Inequality-Campaign-877054125688402/?fref=ts Please pass this information to the women you know who were born in the 50's!
I was downtown this week, and one errand was to get some more capsules for our Nespresso coffee machine.Another customer at the counter ordered some too, together with a 'Descaling kit'. The latter alone was IIRC CHF40!Scale is not only a problem in appliances such as this, it also impacts anything that boils water, so, your kettle for one. What I couldn't tell this guy (in front of the sales-girl) was that we just use white vinegar. I've had to do it a couple of times before here, and it works a treat. In fact just last week or so the machine was dispensing slightly hesitating and smaller than usual shots. Since I last descaled it about 4 months ago I didn't automatically conclude that the problem had re-occurred. [Long story - re: some of the capsules not piercing quite fully, and me thinking an internal adjustment was required to the 'piercing piston-rod' => cue watching 101 Youtube videos re: the subject...]Anyway, that was likely a distraction from the simple issue of scale, and as one of two vids/articles suggested that might be the problem, I resigned myself to descaling it again. It's easy to do, but if you don't believe that that's the remedy then it becomes something of a chore. So I set about doing so. I was going to use white vinegar again and went to NTUC to get some. Then I noticed lower down the shelves 'Artificial vinegar' [enticing product name, NOT! lol] at a fraction of the cost. Well, it doesn't say what it's active ingredient is but it must be edible and acidic, so I concluded it might contain acetic acid, the same as vinegar. It cost about CHF 1-1.20 for a 640ml bottle. This time I used about 1/3rd of a bottle, and ran it through the unit a few times, the last time leaving it for several hours to stew/brew in there. Finishing by going through the required flushing procedure as required.End result, machine working 100% back as normal, and it cost me maybe 40c max.So you can imagine, no more than 3-4 days later, standing next to this poor guy in the Nespresso 'boutique' and him paying CHF 40 to achieve the same ... Hence my writing this here, as a household-tip if you like. If you have a problem with scale in your appliances, then NTUC 'Artificial vinegar' might be all the remedy you need!
Hey All, Looking to purchase a suit and goggles (retail vs. online) today. It looks like once upon a time there were several Arena stores in major malls, but they have now closed. Most of the other brick-and-mortar sports retailers I'm finding might have googles, but not trunks..a couple seem to have very high-tech/competitive and pricey suits.Any suggestion where I Can find an affordable swimwear?
I would like to hide the cables from the dashboard DVR and hook the DVR up internally to the power source. It's a trivial thing to do if you know what to lever and how brutal you could be with removing of the interior plastic parts. Unfortunately I don't know and don't want to have the parts hanging later out of the roof or the dashboard if I brake something.Getting to the point: may someone please recommend a reasonable (work quality, pricing) electrician who could do this kind of job?

Does anyone know where to buy cheap adaptors for US plugs? We have a bunch of appliances (computers, phone chargers, etc) that will work on 220v, but they have the US plugs on them (two prong and three prong). Anyone know where I can get cheap adaptors (I need to buy a bunch of them) that I can use? I don't need voltage converter/transformer, just the plug adaptors. Thanks
